Tá eagraithe Slógadh na n-Óg thar a bheith sásta leis an ócáid ar fad a bhí ar siúl ag an deireadh seachtaine. Bhí muid ag súil go dtiocfadh léar mór daoine amach chuig an an ócáid agus sin a tharla. Bhí an-chuid baill d’Ógra Shinn Féin i láthair fosta agus measann muid gur bhain achan daoine an-sult agus an-tairbhe as.

Bhí an deireadh seachtaine féin lonnaithe i gceantar álainn Thír Chonnaill, i sráidbhaile beag darbh ainm Dún Lúiche, suite faoi scáth mhór Earagail. Roghnaíodh an áit áirithe seo fá choinne an tslógaidh de bharr an mhéid ghaeilge a labhairtear ann, atá go h-ard agus de bharr na tacaíochta áitiúla don slógadh a chuaigh go mór chun ár leasa.

Indymedia had a pretty good write up recently which I enjoyed on the history of Irelands social centre’s and radical bookshops of which I don’t think there are enough of these days. The topic itself was titled 'A Hidden History of Social Centre’s In Ireland' (http://www.indymedia.ie/article/87044) and of course the North West once again seemed to have slipped peoples minds, apologies Darren. read full story / add a comment

Concerned citizens protesting against the ongoing destruction of Tara and its Sacred Valley in County Meath in Ireland say that they have received reports of another possible push by SIAC/FERROVIAL thugs to destroy still more of the ancient Monument at Rath Lugh. They say that it is the intention of contractors to move a steel security fence that was erected during a recent Tunnel action.

Pedro Iñaki Pérez Beotegui (alias "Wilson") 1948 - 2008

Pedro Iñaki Pérez Beotegui (alias "Wilson") died yesterday, on the fourth anniversary of the Al Qaeda M11 bombing of Madrid, in Vitoria in the Basque Country at 60 years of age. As "Wilson" he led the group who in 1973 rented a flat on at Calle Claudio Coello 104, Madrid overlooking the road which Franco's prime minister & expected successor Admiral Luis Carrero Blanco used every morning to travel to work after mass in an armoured car. For several weeks the four members of the team, codenamed "Ogre" tunnelled under the street and then placed 80kg of explosives which they detonated on the 20th of December 1973. The car in which Carrero Blanco travelled was sent 20 metres into the air & over a five storey building in the blast. The assassination is cited in almost every account of how the Spanish state passed from an authoritiarian military dictatorship to the process of "transition" upon Franco's death without named successor to the European social democracy it is today. read full story / add a comment
